Evening all – bit of a mad dash today on the old ToT, as the wife and child have dived off on their hols and I’m left at home all alone. Which obviously means I’ve been spending more time in the pub and at gigs than I have listening to the choicest tunes with a view to presenting them to you of a Thursday evening
Never fear though, I’ve come through for you … read on.
First up this week is a track based on a brilliant concept. Back in the mists of time when I played a helluva lot of sport, the Bleep Test was the bane of my life. Lifting heavy weights I can do, running quickly I’m god-awful at, so when I heard the intro to Strategy & Broke’n’£nglish / The Bleep Test I had horrendous flashbacks to being beasted around a gym by an ex-Royal Marine, and broke out in a cold sweat. The Manc lads flow is tight as hell though, which makes the psychological trauna worthwhile.

It’s been a while since I’ve featured Dan Wilde, but this week he’s in like Flynn, is only for services to bass. What Goes On has some *serious* bottom end going on. A touch of a hip-hop vocal over the top to lighten it up a little but I’d watch the foundations when you play this one if I were you …
Last up this week is a woozy little number from those boys from Brisbane, Blunt Instrument. Foregoing (ok kinda foregoing) their usual uber-wobblefest stylings, Take the K Train is verging on downtempo by their standards, albeit in a bassbin bothering way. Chugtacular.
