Three on a Thursday #125

It’s Thursday, therefore it’s three new tunes time. I’m actually really beginning to enjoy my digging again, and I hope you lot are liking the fruits of my labours

First up is that Mungo’s Hi Fi  lot proving yet again that the home of reggae culture this side of the Atlantic seems to be in Glasgow. Respinning Derrick Harriott‘s rocksteady classic, Solomon, with vocals courtesy of Mr Williamz this is Industry

Pretty much everything these guys touch turns to gold and thats totally true for the bouncy loping looby of a tune

Another week, another track that I’ve picked up thanks to DJ  Powercut. Our Generation is a soulful funk number from Ernie Hines from his time on one of  my favourite labels, Stax. I know the track thanks to the nice version done by John Legend and The Roots, but it’s good to hear the original – the break at the start is a cracker.

This last one comes courtesy of one of my favourite Disco Divas, Anna Banana.

I never used to have a lot of time for disco tracks but, as I’ve realised in my hiatus from blogging, that’s because I was listening to a load of rubbish and as with everything if you do a little digging you can find the good stuff.

Fortunately for me there are some legends of the scene who have been doing this for 30 odd years. This next track by The Fantastic Aleems has been tweaked by one of the best, John Morales, and this is his remix of Hooked On Your Love – all rounded kicks, bongos, slap bass and smooth keys. Break out the glitterballs.
