Ok, so it turned into Three on a Friday … though I have a better excuse than the usual “I was drinking tramp juice and fell asleep in a hedge”, as yesterday was mine and the wife’s 5th anniversary, so rather than blogging, I was eating a steak the size of my head whilst swilling decent plonk with the missus down at a posh eaterie – love you honey!.
Ahem, sorry about that. In the word of Dirty Dike “Enough of that soppy bullshit, lets liven things up a little bit …”
First up this week is the rather tidy little ditty courtesy of Cut La Vis, who gives us a Little Way Different, with the ever present MC, Mystro, or Mysdiggi, or whatever his mum calls him (Kevin, I believe …)
This one manages to do a tidy job fusing the old boom-bap with some seriously rootsy vibes, and caps it off with a sweet chorus from Mr Melody. Seriously catchy work guys!
If vinyl is your bag that’s over here, with the ones and zeros over here
Next up is the weeks almost-standard dancefloor orientated shenanigans track, coming this week courtesy of Slynk and Stickybuds, and their cheeky reworking of Uncle Louis Full Tilt Boogie – where the original has you bustin’ out your bri-nylon flares, the rejig is more likely to find you breaking out the b-boy moves.
Been a while since the Burial-influenced-late-night-garagey-nonsense switch has been flicked, but Ninja Tune have dropped something rather lovely on that tip this week, namely Machine Drum‘s Gunshotta … not exactly laid back grooves, but deep as you like, and properly atmospheric.
