Yes, ok, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. It’s only the second Thursday I’ve missed in six months – largely down to a week of 12hr days stuck in a hotel in the arse end of Paris with no wifi. Whoever said business travel was cool …
Right enough whinging, on with the show.
Thanks to those of you who came down to Timbuk2 on Friday – good news is they loved it and I’m back giving it some red-hot room 2 action on the 12th August whilst Nebula bosh out the DnB in the main room. Excellent.
If you can’t wait that long before a slice of Sherlock, I’m playing the upstairs bar on Big Chill Bristol with the man like Powercut from Funk from the Trunk
Onwards to the tunes!
First tune this week is a belter from The Gaff. I’ve been most remiss at posting stuff from this chap as I’ve been rinsing one of his records at almost every gig I’ve played for the last few months.
This one is a cracking little remix of Dennis Edwards / Don’t Look Any Further, as sampled by Eric B & Rakim for Paid in Full.
He’s promised to unleash it on the world once he hits 1000 ‘likes’ on his Facebook page, so go on, give him a click so I can get my grubby little mitts on this one …
Next up is another in a long line of wobbly basslined party starting nonsense as espoused by those kids at Riddim Fruit and Cast-a-Blast.
Mr Mention & General Tack, better known as Blend Mishkin and Hidden Riddim, cook up Pass it Badman, a quality little reggae-hop stepper for you to fire up your BBQ to over the weekend, complete with an acapella from The Nextmen & Dynamite MC’s / Spin It Round. I believe this one would be described as a BOOM TING!
Last up this week is a proper dancefloor belter from WBBL, tearing ODB / Shimmy Shimmy Ya a new one. As the name implies this one has a definite sub damaging bottom end grafted onto the Wu Tangs dental nightmare refreshing it in proper ghetto funk fashion. I can see this one becoming a regular playout for me …
Right that’s your lot … see you next week, same bat-time, same bat, erm, websitei
