Three on a Thursday #99

916139This week I’ve mostly been in pain.

Not, as you might expect, from riding 60 odd miles from London to Brighton for the British Heart Foundation on Sunday, (what was that? You want to sponsor me? Oh, go on then … ) but more from having my first proper falling off incident about 9hrs before I was due to start. I’ve not had road rash like this since I was about 15 years old.

Lesson learned, don’t spend many hours in the Kernel Brewery and then try and cycle across town afterwards.

Right what was that, music? Oh yeah …

Three on a Thursday #71

Ahoy kids, I’m back!

Apologies about the lack of a ToT last week – sadly had to spend 8-9hrs driving to and from visiting a very ill relative and really *really* wasn’t in the right headspace to write anything.

That’s not happened this week though, so we’re back with the beat (and rhymes – yes – it’s a bit hip-hop heavy this week …)

Onwards!

Rackabeat & Bar-Low / Drop-Bear b/w Lovers Rock

Given my recent trip to Oz, I’ve developed a fear of the Drop Bear.

What with all of the locals over there warning me about them, I spent large amounts of time lying in the gutters of Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney outside bars and hostelries, looking up into the trees to try and spot the little critters before they savaged me.

Wow, I’m on time with a Three on a Thursday, despite dragging myself in from beers in my rather sunny garden. How lucky are you lot?

Three on a Thursday #59

Ahoy all – it’s Three on a Thursday again!

I warn you now, I’ve spent the last few hours in the park, with a bottle of fizz, enjoying the weather. This may or may not have influenced my selection this evening.

If you like what you hear, and fancy experiencing the  full horror live, I’m playing Bill Chill Bristol tomorrow night from 11pm. Pop down and join in, eh?

Anyway – ONWARDS!

3, 2, 1, you’re back in the room …

Apologies for the lack of a ToT last week, I was in Toyko on my hols and was suffering from a dearth of wi-fi access – or at least reasonably priced wi-fi access – I wasn’t going to pay the £20 a day the hotel wanted to charge me – I blame my Scottish heritage for the ‘deep pockets & short arms’ nature of this excuse

Never fear though, normal service has been returned, and to make up for the emotional trauma of missing a week, I’ve dropped a double dose of tunes on you below …

Blend Mishkin / Mama Proud E.P.

Another day, another review, this time with Blend Mishkin‘s wubtacular Mama Proud Riddim and a whole host of MCs showcasing their talents over the top

The riddim itself is a cracker, mixing a dancehall vibe and a dubstep style foundation bothering bassline, complete with gunshots, rave horns, skittering hi-hats and claps, giving plenty of space for the vocals to come. I can see this one being a fixture in Reggae & Bashment DJ’s bags for a while
