Three on a Thursday #50

Wow – #50, how did that happen?

Seems like it was only yesterday that I was working out what exactly I could do with this blog, other than putting my own mixes up on here and decided to share a few of the audio gems that my incessant music geekery found out, and here I am a year later (yes, I know, I missed a couple) having shared 150 tracks.

Speaking of which, lets get onto to the tunes shall we?

Three on a Thursday #46

Afternoon kids

Wow – that was a week and a half, wasn’t it? All I did was post a brief review of the Ghetto Funk boys latest, and I end up with about 3 months worth of traffic in 3 days … shame I don’t have my own advertising on here, I could’ve bought at least half a pint of Mild with the proceeds.

Still, hopefully all this increased interest should up the views in this weeks three little ditties I’ve got lined up

Ghetto Funk presents: Icons Remixed Vol. 2 – The Whole Damn Review! (pt 1)

After the quite staggering reponse to the last Ghetto Funk presents: Icons Remixed Vol. 2 related post I made a few days (about three months traffic to the blog in three days, and more comments and links that I’ve had in a while) I thought I’d give the people what they want and do a full review of the release, especially since a stack of videos have dropped for them as well.

This has nothing to do with the fact that I’m on holiday from work at the moment, and have little else to do with my time … honest.

Right-ho – sixteen more lovely wobbly, breaky, beaty stuffed morsels to go- I feel like Greg Wallace after a sentence like that.

(yes, I know the ‘whole damn review pt 1 is a daft name when it’s in two parts, but I don’t really care … tune in tomorrow for the other half)

Ghetto Funk presents: Icons Remixed Vol. 2

Ghetto Funk have just dropped the second volume of their seminal ‘Icons Remixed’ series!

I think I’m so excited a little bit of wee came out.

Three on a Thursday #45

I fear this one might be a bit of a mad rush – I got distracted by beer (making it for once, rather than just drinking it) and all of a sudden I’ve got an hour to scrawl my feeble attempt at prose before it’s too late  *gasp*

Can it be done?

Will it be done?

Does anyone care?

Find out below …

Promo Mix for WHOMP!

Ahoy all,

Midweek treat for you today – I’ve knocked together a little promo mix for the lovely boys and girls at WHOMP. Half an hour of beats, bleeps, breaks and scandalous mashups and re-edits – so pretty standard for me then.

If you like this sort of thing, pop down to the 4th Annual Bad Jumper Party @ Basement 45 this coming Friday to hear myself, Rob Helps, Riddle,Cornelius and a few more reprobates bringing both the party vibe and the grotesque knitwear.

Tracklisting after the fold ….

Three on a Thursday #41

Evenin’ all

A little late to the party today, but better late than never ‘eh.

Been a quiet week on the music front over here at Chateau Sherlock, but a little digging has turned up some right gems for you, with nufunk treats, hip-hop feats and some utterly slablike concrete beats to finish you off with …

Three on a Thursday #37

Erm, yeah – a bit late. Long days at work leads to me sitting down with a beer, which leads to a lack of motivation to blog – well, a short attention span, which is much the same thing.

Managed to get my shit together for long enough this evening to drop a smidge of science for you though, never fear – which this week consists of glitch-hop, hip-hop and some silly bassy funky nonsense …

Three on a Thursday #24

Evening all – apologies for the lateness of this week’s Three on a Thursday – the bad thing about buggering off to Cornwall for a long weekend means that the work piles up for my return. ICK. Never fear though, Three on a Thursday is still here to warm you up for the weekend.

I’d also like to say ‘ta!’ to the Funk Hunters for featuring my Hip to the Hop mix on their weekly mixtape dig! – I wondered why the number of listens it was getting had shot up today …

If you like this kind of thing, I’m playing at Timbuk2 for the Dub Box Summer Sessions this Friday, giving it some red-hot room 2 action, so pop down and say hello if you’re about

Three on a Thursday #20

I think we’ve finally managed to dry out after a rather brilliant (if thoroughly pissy-arsed) Chilled Cider at the Square & Compass in Worth Matravers (a village which according to whoever modified the sign is twinned with Royston Vasey), though I’m not sure if my liver has recovered after too many pints of the local loony juice. In spite of this epic bender over the weekend, I’ve returned to bless your lug’oles with more finely selected tunes …
