A couple of weeks back the highly talented Ms. Nicki Musgrave took ugly here out and about the streets of this fair city to take some shots of me.
Talk about polishing a turd, she did a cracking job, as you can see below!

It’s come around already – it’s Thursday, the weekend is almost here, and it’s time for the lastest rundown of ‘stuff that new to me’.
I think the tunes that I selected last week are probably directly responsible for the glorious run of weather we’ve had over the last few days – feels like spring has sprung around here, so there are a couple of upbeat little numbers and a late night end-of-nighter for you this week. Should be an ideal part of the soundtrack for any brave BBQers this weekend. I expect an invite by the way …
The next episode of the Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat series for you. This week the usual beats, bleeps and basslines from Totalcult, Telephunken, Audited Beats and Suff Daddy amongst others!
(Update – I’ve removed this from Soundcloud, as I’ve only got so much space, but it’s available on Postbocks here)
I’ve literally just posted the last one of these, and I’m already starting to draft the next one – my quest for the finest tracks for you lot is never-ending! Talk about commitment to the cause …
If you like this series, and fancy seeing me spin them live, pop into the Pipe & Slippers tonight where I’m playing alongside DJ Moneyshot and Roy Strong at Flipzilla from 9pm, and if you fancy your beats juicier, and your bass bouncier come and see us tear the roof off The Big Chill Bar Study with a Ghetto Funk work out on Saturday from 11-2am.
BOING said Zebedee – the big man is back with yet more fresh (to his ears anyway) tunes!
This week I’ve got a proper little Nu Funk burner, a modern Northern Soul-ish number and Hip Hop about the trials and tribulations of a superhero for you to get your lugholes round.
If you like this series and want to hear ’em churned out live, or even buy me a pint by way of thanks for introducing all these wonderous tunes, check the ‘Gigs’ listing at the top of the page. Your next opportunity is tonight at The Pipe & Slippers with Flipzilla, and then again tomorrow with those crazy simians Monkey Chuckle, at The Golden Lion.
None for a month, then four at once!
For the next two Thursdays I’m picking up the slack from Mr Moneyshot for Flipzilla at the legendary Pipe and Slippers on the Cheltenham Rd.
This Friday I’ll be supporting one of Bristols finest Funk acts, Monkey Chuckle at the Golden Lion on the Gloucester Rd.
Finally next Saturday, the 19th I’m playing in the Study at the Big Chill Bar on Small St, with Flipzilla’s Roy Strong.
Exact details for all of these have been added to my Gigs page at the top of the blog, and there are a whole stack of Facebook events in there to remind you they’re happening.
If you like what I do and are in the Bristol area at any point pop in and say hello, and just so you know – first person I see wearing a Sherlock Ohms t-shirt, available from those drunken repro … ahem… nice young men at dizzyjam, gets a beer on me.
The latest edition of Ctrl-Alt-TheBeat for your perusal. Usual stuff, a whole bunch of funk, some bassy wobbliness but this time there’s also a bit of random electro swing to tickle your fancy.
(Update – I’ve removed this from Soundcloud, as I’ve only got so much space, but it’s available on Postbocks here)
It’s Thursday, it’s around lunchtime, it must be time for the next installment of Three on a Thursday!
This week there’s some Jazz, some Hip-Hop and a little bit of Bristolian Downtempo to enjoy, so no more blathering, on with the tunes.
Another week, another Three on a Thursday for you. Seems like quite a few of people are liking this series, so as long as you lot keep clicking and listening, I’ll keep rummaging around the internet to find shiny stuff for you.
I thought of attempting to start this week with a witty quote or acerbic comment on the state of the world, but as I’m writing this after midnight on a school night my brain is not in the right place for such shenanigans – on with the music!
