Normal Service has been resumed!

Ahoy – apologies for the unannounced outage, but my hard drive collapsed into a steaming heap after Asus decided up update some of their software and utterly ruin the file structure on my laptop. Basically that meant that I couldn’t even start the damn machine up, or if it did get to the logon screen, the mouse wouldn’t move.

One total OS reinstall and complete system rebuild later, I’m back up and going  (well, almost). I’m a bit of a nerd, so I was backed up to the hind teeth – I highly recommend zovo for this, up to half a terabyte of storage for free with the right signup coupon, and it’s done the job brilliantly.

Three on a Thursday, the Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat show and a massive backlog of reviews with soon be unleashed.

I’m BACK baby!

Just a few for you, if you fancy popping out to hear my do my shizzle live in the nightclub-rave-scene.

I’ve got a couple of gigs at Big Chill Bar, Bristol, one of my tod on the 24th June, and one with Funk From The Trunk’s awesomely talented DJ Powercut on the 29th July. The third is at a new venue for me, Timbuk2 for the Dub Box Summer Sessions giving it some red hot Room 2 action alongside Riddle, Rob Helps and Teddy G.

Quick Heads up – Upfest ’11 is this Saturday!

If you like your street art you’ll surely have heard of Upfest, and if you haven’t -where the hell have you been?!?

Running since 2008 and now billed as “Europe’s largest free urban paint festival; Upfest, is now in its fourth year and is preparing to take over its cultural home Bristol by welcoming over 250 artists and 40 DJs, Groups & Human Beatboxers”, this is a fantastic event, and what’s even better it’s FREE.

Featuring live painting from big names from the national and local scenes, such as  Inkie, Spqr, Cheo, Jody and Lokey alongside a multitude of others, the organisers thought you might need some music to go with the doodling, so have booked a host of talent to spin some tunes as well as l’il ole me.

I’m *cough* ‘headlining’ the inside stage at 1pm @ Tobacco Factory, so pop on down and say hello!

Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat Show Archive now up!

I’ve decided it’d be nice to try and make available as many of my old Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat shows as I can for you all. A few misguided individuals have been in contact with me asking for more mixes, and I don’t currently have too many of them online, so I thought I’d try to change that

Oops!

Apologies for the lack of a Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat recording for you this week – technical issues meant that I had to restart the software mid-show, and second time around I didn’t restart the recording.

To make up for it, I’ll chuck a review or two up and another Mixtape Madness for you to tide you over till next week …

Big up Antidote Bristol!

Been sitting on this one for a while, as I couldn’t quite believe it was true, but now it’s been announced, I’ll share – those handsome, witty, and devastatingly charming chaps  at Antidote Bristol want to sponsor little old me.

This will see me joining such Bristol luminaries as Ewan Hoozami, Graham Acidic, Benjamin One and Khoi as part of their  collaboration with some of  “the vast wealth of raw underground talent in Bristol” – result!

For those who don’t know, Antidote are a skate company based in Bristol who make a cracking line in tees, artwork and DVDs, and what’s more, they do all of this in the most ethical way they can – all their clothing is made from organic an hemp/cotton blend and printed using water based inks, and all their packaging is sourced from an eco-friendly company. If you like the sound of what they do, check out their site by following the links from here to their site, and showing them some love by buying a tee or two …

Hopefully this should see me playing a few of their events, and sporting some of their rather natty gear!

Ctrl:Alt:TheBeat with Sherlock Ohms ~ 12th April ’11

A couple of weeks back the highly talented Ms. Nicki Musgrave took ugly here out and about the streets of this fair city to take some shots of me.

Talk about polishing a turd, she did a cracking job, as you can see below!

Gigs are like Buses …

None for a month, then four at once!

For the next two Thursdays I’m picking up the slack from Mr Moneyshot for Flipzilla at the legendary Pipe and Slippers on the Cheltenham Rd.

This Friday I’ll be supporting one of Bristols finest Funk acts, Monkey Chuckle at the Golden Lion on the Gloucester Rd.

Finally next Saturday, the 19th I’m playing in the Study at the Big Chill Bar on Small St, with Flipzilla’s Roy Strong.

Exact details for all of these have been added to my Gigs page at the top of the blog, and there are a whole stack of Facebook events in there to remind you they’re happening.

If you like what I do and are in the Bristol area at any point pop in and say hello, and just so you know – first person I see wearing a Sherlock Ohms t-shirt, available from those drunken repro … ahem… nice young men at dizzyjam, gets a beer on me.
