I’m sorry.
Waaaaay too busy with, work, family, etc etc, so there was a brief hiatus
Back now.
Another week, another fyah track from Andy Cooper – I don’t think I’ve heard a duff track from him for an age, and it’s obviously going to his head, as he’s now invented his own dance routine and dropped this track to go with it – it’s time to Do The Andypuppet
The production could have come straight from the days of Ugly Duckling (no criticism, I love their beats) and the muppets-esque video for this one is immense, complete with (slightly surlier than I recall) bright eyed an bushy tailed kids
Out on Rocafort records here
Next up is a chuggy little jazz infected deep house number from Moodymann, Pitch Black City Reunion. I can totally imagine the Balearic sunset this one should be played to – driven – Just shy of 6 minutes in a beautifully organic simple drum track comes to the fore, all swashing ride cymbal accents over a cross-sticked snare, before it drifts out on a sea of hand drums. Just beautiful
Sadly, this one sold out on release day, so you’ll just have to enjoy it here … or buy it for about £50 on Discogs
Last up is a lovely little head nodder of a latin funk number from Tim Maia rebooted by DJ Snatch. Do Leme Ao Pontal is properly cheerful, there’s just something about it which oozes sunshine. How the hell DJ Snatch saw enough in the original it to turn into this, I’ll never know
