Bit of a milestone this week – number 150 up on the scoreboards

When I first started writing these 7 years ago, before kids and the break in playing that caused, in an different house, I never imagined I’d write this many musical missives. I’ve dug tracks up from a daft range of genres, from Jungle to Jazz, Footwork to Funk and

I’m going to keep doing this until you or I get bored – whichever comes first.

(hint: I doubt it’ll be me … )

First up this week is a bit of a banger.

I’ve been a fan of Aim since the days of Grand Central records (RIP), and some of the choice cuts he turned out back in the day still get regular rotation at 221b, though it’s been a while since i heard new gear from him.

Until now.

Tun Up Di Heat with Mikey D.O.N, doing a good job channelling Rodney P, and released under the MAIDM moniker has a serious dancefloor vibe going on, bit spiky bass stabs with a lovely bongo roll and serious pile of breaks definitely brings the fire.

Next is another slammin’ slice of funky feeling. I first picked up on Ty yeeeeears ago, on a Nextmen cut if I’m not mistaken. Baby Love (The Work of Heart Mix) features the man himself alongside the reggae stylings of Seanie T, and some lovely horn work courtesy of Miles Bonny.

Last track is a wiggy as hell, dubbed out, blissful version of Sylvia Striplin’s Can’t Turn Me Away, by the rather talented Henry Greenwood – who’s made a Henry’s Lost Dub version. Intro to die for.
