Three on a Thursday #142

Another week, another Three on a Thursday – you think I’d get bored of digging for tunes but … nah, never going to happen.

My mate put me onto Edith Bowman’s brilliant Soundtracking podcast a week or so back, as I’ve a bit of a thing about scoring films. This weeks episode is an interview with Edgar Wright about his newly released Baby Driver film, and one of the tracks that crops up in the film, for a gunfight apparently is the wonderfully sleazy sounding Bongolia by the Incredible Bongo Band.

Sometimes, you just need some dirty party breaks in your life, and this week it’s DJ Zinc providing them – he’s good like that.

Trainspotting was the film of my University years, the classic ‘Choose Life’ poster appearing on many people’s dorm room walls, and Underworld’s Born Slippy was the standout from the film soundtrack, so it’s perfect place to start, then add a whopping break and filthy bassline for maximum dancefloor destruction.

It feels a little sacrilegious to mess with a classic sometimes, and Slippy Boots  really does  dance down a fine line, but then I think of the reaction that this would get, and can’t stop grinning

Next up is me being down with the yoot.

I’ m utterly loving the vibe on Nadia Rose on Skwod, dutty grimy beat with more than a touch of reggaeton, and the video is a belter. Something properly summery feeling to it, in an odd urban kinda way.
