On time this week eh?
Erm, yeah.
Sorry.
I blame the Rioja.
Ah well, onwards
First up in a lovely little track on 7″ (and Bandcamp, but what isn’t these days …). The A-side, The Zone Identity’s Funk-I-Tus is a tidy number, but for me it’s the flip where the action is
I vaguely remember spinning some J-Zone stuff in the past but Let The Music Take Your Mind is a new one to me, all Hammond sweeps over a funky-as-hell bass and breakbeat line
(h/t to Roy Moneyshot from The Allergies for this one)
I do like me a little bit of Drum and Bass, as can be seen from some of the recent posts on these pages, and many of the tracks I find come courtesy of my man, Nibbers.
Grumpy cuss by day, excellent selector by night, he’s turned me on to another belting roller by Addiction and Villem, entitled Someone Somewhere.
Harangue the DJ is one of my favourite music columns, I’ve been known to lose hours in there rummaging for the tunes that the interviewees mention – some are rubbish, others truly aren’t my style, given that many of the DJs they talk to are far more on the house & techno end of the scale, but occasionally I stumble across some amazing things
Oren Ambarchi’s Hubris Pt. 1 is a sprawling 21 minute epic of downtempo lushness. It’s the kind of thing I can image sitting on a tropical beach somewhere watching sunset with a ridiculous cocktail in hand , and this on the system
