Ahhhh, sweet, sweet music – the one thing this week that’s stopping me from shaving my head, climbing the nearest tall building with a high powered rifle and picking off strangers, due to insane levels of work stress …
(and yes, that’s a vague excuse for the brief hiatus in transmission – sorry to those jonesing for their next fix of odd and eclectic beats)
Nevermind, eh?

ONWARDS!
First up this week is from modern funk Northern De Niro, the monkey man that is Smoove. Releases on this man’s Wack Records imprint are highly sought after by the discerning dancefloor-killing DJ, and his latest cut, a belting rework of Aretha Franklin’s A Little Soul with Suonho is no different.
(The b-side ain’t too shabby either)
It’s amazing how a bit of production know how can take two tired samples, namely James Brown / I Feel Good and the totally overplayed Dead Prez / Hip-Hop, and create a cracker from them, and l33t production skillz are something Basement Freaks displays in shovelfuls on I Feel Good With This Hip-Hop
Really like the way they resisted the temptation to ‘bang a breakbeat over it’ and left it relatively understated.
Something a bit deeper and darker for you next courtesy of Jayglo‘s rework of Dephicit / Duality. They’ve taken the ‘slightly Drum and Bass, slightly Glitchy’ original and turned it into a deep, sludgy twitch ridden slab of late-night smokiness.
Awesome work
