Two in a row – my word I am spoiling you lot aren’t I?
This week we’ve got some funky swinging bassy nonsense, some straight up and down soulful reggae, and a deep house-y chilled piece of business.
Onwards!
First up is one of my favourite nu-funk/ghetto funk/whatever the term is these days artists, remixed by one of my other favourite nu-funk/ghetto funk/whatever the term is these days artists.
Badboe’s beats are some of the most consistent in town , and never fail to raise a smile and when combined J-Pod’s penchant for bass really makes this a belting piece of midtemp dancefloor goodness.
I can’t help but smile when I listen to this one. As the track says, Hit It Maestro
It’s been a while since I’ve tipped a straight up and down reggae tune, but thanks to Johnny Clash – the taller, hairier half of Bam-Bam Sound, I’ve found The Delagators.
I didn’t think it was possible to be feeling summery in January, but Be Good To Me seems to be doing the trick right now.
I seem to have a thing for the Burial-esque deep house style shenanigans recently – what with this one, and then this one, and I’m now tipping Godford’s cracking little track, Tragic Soul.
Complete with ‘singing down a drainpipe’ vocal sample, lovely clicking drum line and some epic bass chords, It’s a cracker.
