Ungh – I have a horrendous cold, and my daughter has been awake at 4am for the last three nights. Intro spiel not happening. Tunes below the fold
This one was shoo-in for Three on a Thursday this week. I’ve been a fan of Dirty Dike for a while now (if you don’t know, get to know, the bloke is one of the freshest things to hit UK Hip-Hop in an age) and his Ten Dike Commandments does a bang up job over the Premo beat from Biggie’s classic Ten Crack Commandments, giving it large about James’s rules for life. No idea if/when it’s getting a release.
Warning – not for those easily offended by ‘fruity’ language.
Second this week is yet more hip-hop, this time from Propo’88 & BlabberMouf. FlabberGasted echoes the earlys ’90s New York steez made famous by the likes of House of Pain – watch the video and you’ll see what I mean – despite being from that hub of hip-hop, Utrecht.
Oh and Blabbermouf’s flow is *incredible*
Dropped at the end of last year on Da Shogunz album ”From The Top Of The Stack” which you can bag from their bandcamp
Last up this week is a little more mellow, and courtesy of my mate Chandra. Based around the classic Nina Simone tune Black is the Colour of My True Loves Hair, but respun by Lulu Rouge, apparently for the Copenhagen Jazz Festival a couple of years ago to give you Black is the New Colour, an utterly beautiful slice of chuggy downtempo lusciousness.
