Ahoy – I’m currently demob happy, having finished work for the year, so am celebrating by, erm, sitting in my front room digging through tunes as it’s fucking FREEZING out there.
If you’re made of sterner stuff, and fancy a beer and some beats tomorrow, I’ll be gracing the decks in The Volunteer from 10-ish till midnight if you fancy venturing out.
Enjoy the fruits of my labours kids …
I seem to be on a random reggae jag today – must be some sort of rebellion against the absolutely Baltic weather we’ve got in Bristol at the moment. I know I can’t really complain, it is December after all, but that doesn’t mean I can’t look forward to sunnier times …
Been a fan of Manchester’s Mouse Outfit for a few months now, and Who Gwan Test is yet another belter. Sparkz and Dubbul-O give it the rude-boy licks over an amazing little steppa of a tune – less laid back funk that their usual fare, but still absolutely top dollar.
Should be an album dropping soon, featuring their mate, and long time blog favourite Dr Syntax – can’t wait
If you’re a follower of this blog (and if not, why not?!?!) then you’re well aware I’m a fan of a slice and dice beat rinseout, and this weeks comes tipped from The Allergies. Si Spex is one half of The Creators, and Fly Like a Seagull is a fine example of chopped up randomness rearranged into something quite superb. According to the spiel I’ve just read, it was supposed be a remix, but somehow ended up with 454 samples being mashed into it. Genius!
Last is a bit of a hip-hop spin on blues. I picked up on Rag’n’Bone Man from the awesome Dirty Dike, and Tell ‘Em Like It Is is simply superb. Hell, the entire EP is less than a fiver, so get involved

Oh man, that mouse outfit tune is well tasty! Wasn’t expecting the breaks to drop with the double-time rapping. Nice one for posting this. Really liking this blog – you post some wicked stuff!
