Three quarters of the way to the Century … can’t quite believe it. By my count that’s 225 hand picked, lovingly curated tunes I’ve educated you lot with – the least you can do is come to my next gig at Number 51, Stokes Croft tomorrow <- shameless plug or what
Ahem, sorry about that. Music you say?
First up this week is a hiphop number (natch). Been a fan of both Dr Syntax and The Mouse Outfit for a while now, some of the finest purveyors of well crafted intelligent, funk influenced hip-hop from the these isles I’ve heard in a while, so a track with both of them on?
Hell yes!
Next up is an (relative) oldie, first picked up in one of Spinforths epic Scours, which I missed first time round till fellow Purple Radio compadre, Del Gazeebo dropped it in his Massive Set of Bangers show. Tenoshi has done some cracking little pieces in the past, but this reggae-fied fairground fun tweak of Pharohe Monch’s smash, Simon Says, on Monster Monche
Last up this week is Daytoner’s rather chilled From the Root to the Fruit. The picked guitar and really remind my of turn of the noughties Big Chill festival tunes, a la Lemon Jelly and Zero Seven, but in a less ‘advert fodder’ kinda way – really rather good. IF it’s your kinda thing, check out his Sunburst Radio album …
