The collabo list on Mr Boss’s The Landing II reads like a who’s who of UK Hip-hop right now, with everyone from the young thrusters Fliptrix and Ramson Badbonez from High Focus to the (relatively) old heads of the scene, Stig of the Dump and Dr Syntax, so this promises much … does it deliver?
From the mellow opener of Lemon Squeezy with Sonny Jim the general feel of the album is set out – moody head nodders over Mr Boss’s trademark tightly structured piano and acoustic guitar beats, with a couple of more uptempo numbers to switch it up a littler
Standout tracks for me are the wonderfully mellow and summery Nah Mean with Cinnamon, the sublime soul-looping Rain with Stig and Ronnie Bosh, and the closest thing to a banger on the album the sleazy horn drenched Rant with Dirty Dike but to be honest, there’s not a duff track on here.
Does it deliver – hell yes!
If this sounds up your street, the album drops on 9th August and is available from his site, and the man is so nice that, as a teaser, he’s dropped this one fer gratis
