From the phat horns and b-boy friendly break of the opening track, Here We Come, you can tell that the debut Mash & Munkee album, We Like It Like That, is going to be a ripsnorter.
They don’t let up after the opener, with the next track, Superbad, sounding like a modern day ‘Theme from Shaft‘, chased up by the piano drive and smooth jazz trumpet of Hold It Down.
Others which jump out are the latin vibin’ Mexican B-Boy, a smooth swinging number from South of the (US) Border complete with a cracking little ghostly Chali 2Na sample on the intro, and the mellow as hell Sunny Day
Overall the album manages to skillfully tread the fine line between the simplicity of the dancefloor and a full bore funk fuelled freak out. Serious props to Deli-Kutt and Unifairfly, this is definitely going to be in the virtual gig bag for a good while.
