Yet more niceness in my inbox courtesy of the Cast-a Blast crew, and in the week before St Pauls Carnival in Bristol – it’s almost like they knew I was after some new reggae based beats to air …
The title track from Palov’s Troubles EP is a mellow reggae number, based around a cheery little picked guitar lick and complimented beautifully with a sweet vocal from Lady Faye, perfect for those summer evenings round the BBQ. Jazz K Lipa remixes this by upping the bass, dropping the beats and starting to push us into party territory, whilst Ireland’s favourite reggae sons the Dirty Dubsters have finished the job, turning the original into a full on amen breaking, gunshot firing drum and bass workout, complete with whopping drops which, as the boys from Jamaica might say, is pure fyah onna dancefloor
Last up is The Dude is a definite change of mood, with odd clown horn samples and folksy accordion line combining with a popping beat and hammond organ for a quality little slice of broken beats.
It’s out on the 14th July, and should ideally be served with roasting sunshine, and a large plate of Jerk Chicken.
