Just discovered this little gem from Hidden Riddim nestling in my inbox from those nice gents over at Cast-A-Blast and as I’m in a good mood, I thought I’d share the love.
Hidden Riddim are a “new BassHoppin duo comprises of Dubstep producer and Deep End resident Corticyte aka James Hipperson & Full Melt DJ Ben Adams, They have recently embarked on a new project to put together a new sound that is full of glitched up samples, polyrymthmic textures & driver bursting basslines.” which sounds like my kinda thing …
The title track from the Now You Know The Name EP is a rolling little glitch-hop number lifting a vocal line from Mark B & Blade thoroughly twisting it, and then laying slabs of burbling bass underneath.Great little early set builder I reckon. Basement Freaks is a favourite producer of mine, and he’s done a damn fine job funking up the remix adding a full bore funk horn line and bass work out over the vocal.
Cornflakes seriously ups the squelch factor, with nicely crunching drums, a hammond line (which I’m certain I recognise from and old Meat Beat Manifesto tune) and a bizarre yet brilliant little snippet of dialogue from Total Recall which gives the track its name. The Johnny Pluse remix is a riot of samples – I’m fairly certain there’s a duck quacking in there as well, and a fair bit harder to boot – definite dancefloor smash I reckon.
Keep your eyes peeled for the release on the 2nd June …
