(There’s a tongue twister for you)
Ahoy all! Three in three weeks – aren’t you lot lucky!
To be honest I’m slightly surprised that I’ve not been my usual slack self on this, but here you are, three more nuggets to get you through Thursday, and warmed up for the weekend.
From the famous Jamaican enclave of, erm, Glasgow, Mungo’s Hi Fi have been bringing teeth rattling dub reggae basslines to the world for the last 6 years, and ever since *that* advert, French producer Mr Oizo has been mistaken for a small yellow puppet, whilst producing blisteringly good electro-house. Now you can enjoy two for the price of one, thanks to the twisted brain of Brighton’s Mark Dobson, a.k.a. Ambassadeurs, with this cracking mashup, Ambassadeurs / Mungos Hi Fi vs Mr Oizo
Next up is the mighty talented, and exceedingly modestly titled Chris Awesome / You’re Not Awesome. Lifting the same samples from Wreckx-N-Effect’s Rumpshaker, and Peace by Piece’s Nobody’s Business (Nosey Parker Mix) as another Brighton boy, Fat Boy Slim this is a pure Ghetto Funk banger. It’s just dropped on Big M Productions, and I can’t wait for my copy to drop through the door.
Finally it has to be Lopez / Keira (Instrumental), and yes, I know I’ve waxed lyrical about this one in the preceding blog post but I’ve been loving this tune more and more each time I’ve listened to it. It’s the work of the men for Paraguay, Lopez, and will be available from Keep Up! Records from March/April. Keep your ears to the ground for the follow-up, Analogue Excursions Vol.2 coming in a few weeks.
See you all next week!
